Dave signed for the Magpies during the close season following a successful spell at Bashley in the Southern League, where he was both a goal provider and scorer for several seasons. This is Dave's second spell with the Magpies having initially been signed by former manager Mark Morris towards the end of the 2004-05 season. A handful of appearances as a midfielder followed, but he left Dorchester the following year for Winchester City, before moving on to Bashley where he established himself in a more attacking role. Having been re-signed by boss Ashley Vickers in the summer, Dave's second spell at the club was short-lived and he rejoined Bashley for an undisclosed fee in October 2010.
