Dorchester Town Youth Football Club (DTYFC) started
out as Cosmos Boys Football Club in 1984 which grew in size to become
the largest boys’ football club in Dorchester.
They then became Dorchester Cosmos FC and in 2001
they amalgamated with Dorchester Town Football Club and became DTYFC.
In 2003 they amalgamated with Dorchester Ladies. They now provide
football training and competitive football matches for boys and
girls between the ages of 5 and 18, with an emphasis, particularly
in the early years, on participation and enjoyment.
They rely almost entirely on the parents of their players who give
generously of their time and effort in coaching, managing teams,
refereeing, fund raising activities and carrying out the organisational
activities which are performed by their working committee. DTYFC
is made up of professional coaches, referees and sponsors. Some
of whom have made it there life.
Dorchester Town Youth Football Club has a formal constitution and
Codes of Conduct for players, coaches, parents/spectators and team
officials, in line with good practice recommended by the Football
Association. All of their managers and coaches are required to receive
training from the Dorset County Football Association in the various
aspects of youth football coaching, which includes child protection.
