Young Magpies win first friendly

by James Tizzard

Dorchester Town's under 18 side kicked-off their pre-season fixtures last night with a 3-2 victory at Gillingham Town.

Jack Dale opened the scoring in an all-round good performance for the Magpies when he met a Martyn Rice corner in the penalty area during the first half.

Gillingham hit back to equalise on 41 minutes, but an effort from Toni Musumeci from 20 yards out restored the visitors' lead a minute before half-time.

Gillingham were back on level terms within ten minutes of the restart but, having made a number of changes at half-time, substitute Ben Holden got the all-important third goal for Trevor Senior's Magpies in the 70th minute.

Lloyd Mitchem and Ryan Chance were both unlucky not to increase Dorchester's lead before the final whistle.

Dorchester U18: Ian Bickerstaff, Alan Hill (sub Ryan Chance), Dan Critchel (sub Lloyd Mitchem), Sam Buckler (sub Ben Holden), Jake Dale, Dan Jones (sub Ollie Toogood), Martyn Rice (sub Craig Kellaway), Richard Read, Toni Musumeci (sub Jamie Symes), Sam Thomas (sub Jamie Hopkins), Chris Clarke.
