Under-18's held at Tivvy

by James Tizzard

Trevor Senior's young Magpies travelled to Tiverton Town last night for their second pre-season friendly, and came away with a draw from what was the two sides' first ever meeting.

The Magpies started slowly and found themselves two down inside the first 20 minutes after goals from Alex Faux and Glen Gould gave the home side a commanding lead.

Jamie Symes, who had travelled down from Liverpool to take part in the match, reduced the deficit on 35 minutes when he reacted fastest to a rebound after a Ben Holden header hit the Tiverton post.

The Magpies were back on level terms just five minutes later when Lloyd Mitchem slotted home after rounding Tivvy goalkeeper Luke Phillips.

Frankie Ngoli restored Tiverton's lead ten minutes into the second half, but Sam Thomas equalised for the visitors on 75 minutes when he met a Dan Jones free kick in the area.

Toni Musumeci and Chris Clarke both could have stolen a win for Dorchester at the end of the game, but were thwarted by two fine saves from Phillips in the home team's goal.

» Dorchester's under 18 fixture away to Portland United Reserves has been brought forward to this Saturday, August 18th, kick-off 2.00pm. The game had originally been scheduled for next Thursday.
