Glover revels in 'big' loan move

Dorchester Town's director of football Shaun Brooks ended his long
search for a second keeper when he signed Yeovil Town's Darren Behcet
on a season-long loan late last week.
The 20-year-old joined the Glovers last summer after his release from West Ham United but could make no impression on first-team counterpart Steve Mildenhall during the League One outfit's play-off push.
Having made his Dorch debut in an eventful 3-1 defeat to Lewes on Saturday, Behcet is looking forward to benefiting from his spell at the Blue Square South outfit.
"It was very hard for me at Yeovil last season," said Behcet. "The gaffer (Glovers' manager Russell Slade) there does not really put a keeper on the bench which makes life harder and when Steve Mildenhall had such a fantastic season there is nothing you can take from that.
"However, I am only 20. I have to be patient and wait for opportunities like this (playing for the Magpies) to come along.
"It may only be Blue Square South but to me it is still big because you never know who is going to be watching. It will also be for my own benefit, experience and performance.
"It is going to be difficult because I will still be training with Yeovil as the gaffer (Slade) wants me to stay and train every day with them. But I know some of the (Dorchester) boys from previous times and I need to try to get to know the others as soon as possible.
"When the gaffer (Slade) wanted to send me out on loan, the London clubs were ruled out because he did not want me to disappear completely. There was just the local clubs and Weymouth and Dorchester.
"The gaffer here (Brooks) mentioned at the start of the season he was interested in taking me so it took all this time for me to finally get down here."
Behcet believes Brooks' emphasis on youth at the Avenue Stadium is a big plus.
"It is a good to have a young squad because they want to build their careers which means they are hungry," said Behcet. "That is an advantage to have those sort of players around mixed in with some players who have experience and have been there and done that.
"It was difficult coming down from West Ham to Yeovil at first. That was a big change for the first few weeks and I would not say coming to Dorchester is a step down but it is different so it is going take time to adapt."
Behcet is looking for his spell at Dorchester to push him closer to a first-team place at Huish Park in the long term.
"There are lots of players who have been at this level or lower who have still made the grade," he said. "I believe in my own ability and think I will get my chance at Yeovil by playing well here. Patience is the main thing and every 90 minutes will be appreciated by me. And I hope I can take that chance by both hands.
"Training with the Yeovil lads, I will be trying to be in
the gaffer's (Slade's) eye-line. He believes in me and said to me
'Go out on loan because in the long run it will benefit you and
Yeovil Town Football Club'."
