Behcet believes in Avenue set up

Dorchester Town loanee Darren Behcet believes the set up at the Avenue Stadium is destined for success even though the club is struggling at the wrong end of the Blue Square South table.

The Magpies defeated Stevenage Borough 2-1 last Saturday in the FA Trophy and the Yeovil keeper believes that result is proof they are much better than their position suggests.

Dorchester are currently second from bottom and have not won in the league since September 15.

Behcet said: "Last Saturday's result was for director of football Shaun Brooks. The whole team has dedicated that to him because he has done a lot for all of us and we all hope he gets well soon.

"Paul Compton has come in now and taken over first-team duties as assistant-manager and we must build on that win and get out of the bottom six and try and move closer to the top half.

"The way we play football we deserve to be up there challenging near the play-offs."

Behcet is enjoying his time at the county town side. He added: "It has been a great experience so far and I could not ask for much more.

"I am learning all the time, like when to come for the ball and when to leave it to the defenders and things like that.

"There are some good young players here and a few of them could easily play in the league above.

"The potential is there and I believe a set up is in place for a promotion year in the next couple of seasons."

Compton is still working hard trying to strengthen Town's squad despite already having landed a defender this week.

He said: "Cardiff City youngster Bradley Middleton completed his loan move until the end of the season and he will be available to play over the Christmas programme.

"As for the other two lads who have been training with us, Tariq Kalil and Matthew McEntegart, they have both been doing well and I am still talking to other people as well."

Jamie Gleeson is expected to be fit and available for Dorchester's Boxing Day home clash against Bath City. The midfielder has recently been sidelined with a knee injury.

Compton added: "Jamie has come through training so we should have a full squad to choose from."
