Under-18s get news they wanted
by

Dorchester Town under-18s' general manager Phil Basford has welcomed
the arrival of the club's new majority shareholder Eddie Mitchell
and director of football Shaun Brooks.
Basford, together with team manager Trevor Senior, met Brooks to
discuss plans for the youth set-up at the Avenue Stadium and was
pleased with what he heard.
"Shaun said he was fully behind the under-18s," said
Basford. "We were very pleased by the fact he is backing us.
It is what we wanted to hear. It is exciting times and what Dorchester
Town have been crying out for, someone who has been interested in
developing the youth set-up.
"He has his work cut out with sorting out the first team at
the moment but they wanted to develop youth players, not only homegrown
ones, but also people who have been released from the academies
and want or need a second chance.
"We want to develop the under-18 side at Dorchester as an
alternative to players who may go to AFC Bournemouth and the like.
It is still early days but why not come to Dorchester and get into
professional football that way?"
