Senior: We should be nearer top spot

Western Gazetteby Howard Milton

With his side now taking a break from league action until the new year, Magpies' boss Trevor Senior believes they should be near the top of Division Two.

Senior said: "Technically we are probably a better side than last season but I think we had the will to win and not get beaten a little bit more then. If we could combine the two, that would be great.

"We have not been torn apart by many teams this season - but if we had played like I know we can, we would be nearer the top.

"There have been plusses this season such as some of the younger lads - the likes of Jamie Hopkins and Jamie Morgan, who has come in from Yeovil Town.

"However, we are going to lose Sam Buckler, our 2006-7 player of the season, and Toni Musumeci to the Navy."

Losing Musumeci early on to injury at Tatnam Farm on Saturday ensured Dorch struggled to break down the Poole defence, although Alan Hill twice come close late on.

Senior said: "It was a fair result and a clean sheet was a positive. We can look towards the league cup now."

The Dolphins provide the opposition for the first of those cup games - at the Recreation Ground, Weymouth Avenue, on Saturday.
