Ryman test for Magpies in Trophy
by

Dorchester director of football Shaun Brooks is pleased yet cautious
after drawing Ryman League opposition in the Third Qualifying Round
of the FA Trophy.
The Magpies will be at home to either Worthing or Walton & Hersham, who contest a replay tonight after Saturday's game ended in a fiery 0-0 stalemate, with three players being sent off.
Both sides ply their trade in Ryman League Division One but after the embarrassment of losing to lower league opponents Paulton Rovers in the FA Cup qualifiers back in September, Brooks is wary of the challenge ahead.
He said: "You can't take anything for granted in football. The FA Trophy is a competition we would like to do well in but there are a lot of good sides out there including those in the lower leagues.
"I know a little about Worthing while Walton & Hersham are somewhat of an unknown quantity. Hope-fully though we should have someone at the replay to have a look at both sides because we like to do our homework on every opponent we come up against."
Meanwhile the Magpies' boss is confident of keeping Brighton loanee Wes Fogden at the club for longer after an initial chat with Albion manager Dean Wilkins.
The 19-year-old midfielder has started each of the last six games for the Magpies and has been arguably their best player in that time.
Brooks added: "I have spoken to Dean briefly and he said that there are one or two other clubs interested in Wes, but Wes has said that he wants to stay with us which is fantastic because in recent games he has set a benchmark with his competitiveness. It's not a done deal yet but hopefully it will be sorted soon."
With the release of three players last week (Guy Lopez, Brian Dutton and Uzo Opara), as well as Ryan Hill being loaned out to Bashley, Brooks is hoping to bring in more new faces to join recent signing Dani Rodrigues.
He said: "We are out and about this week watching games in the search of finding someone who is right for this club. The search is always ongoing but saying that, there is enough ability in the squad, as long as they perform, to do well this season."
