Dorch poor in cup setback says boss

Western Gazetteby Howard Milton

Dorchester Town under-18s' boss Trevor Senior admitted his side were poor as they slipped to defeat in their first South West Counties Youth League Cup match.

To make matters worse for Dorch in their home game with Poole Town on Saturday, Dan Jones had a penalty saved midway through the second period. And then the hosts were hit twice on the break as the Dolphins completed a 2-0 win.

Senior said: "Neither side looked great but I was very disappointed with my whole team who did not perform. We had a few other chances (after the penalty), through Jamie Morgan and Toni Mesmeci, but could not take advantage."

On Sunday the Magpies beat Parkstone Heights 3-1 in the second round of the Dorset Youth Cup. Jamie Morgan (2) and Lloyd Mitchem scored.

General manager Phil Basford said: "We should have been up by seven or eight goals by half-time. But we are having problems scoring at the moment."

Town are due to travel to Taunton-based Richard Huish College in their second League Cup game on Saturday.
