One in, one out at the Avenue
by Rob Hodder
Dorchester Town centre back Nathaniel Peprah Annan has had his contract
cancelled by mutual consent and has left the club.
The former Tottenham Academy star and England Under 16 International
has struggled to adapt to life on the South Coast and has been suffering
with personal problems which have affected his training and form
in general recently.
Speaking earlier today Director of Football Shaun Brooks said:
"It's a shame that things have not worked out for Nathan as
he is a very good defender and has a lot to offer.
"The lad has had some personal problems though and is also
a bit home-sick, so a move back to London was in the best interest
for both him and the club. I am hopeful that he will be fixed up
with a London based club fairly soon."
Joining the Magpies on loan is Brighton & Hove Albion left-sided
defender Sonny Cobbs. Brooks watched the 19-year-old in action during
Albion's reserve match away at Millwall on Wednesday and agreed
terms to bring the highly rated youngster to The Avenue Stadium.
Cobbs has played regularly for the Seagulls reserve side and is
primarily an attacking full-back but is also comfortable in the
centre of defence and has already enjoyed a very successful three
month loan spell at Ryman League Worthing this season.
Brooks added: "Sonny is a good size and a feisty defender.
He is highly thought of by Dean Wilkins at Brighton, who is confident
he will have a big impact on us."
The Brighton & Hove Albion first team squad will be training
at Dorchester's Avenue Stadium on Friday 30th November in preparation
for their FA Cup tie on the saturday at Torquay United. The session
will be begin at 1.30pm and is open to the public.
