Magpies stung by late penalty

Western Gazetteby Howard Milton

Magpies' boss Trevor Senior was a frustrated man after his side failed to take maximum Division Two points on Saturday.

It was a contest which was dominated by the hosts but they had only Jamie Morgan's strike to show for all their possession and chances.

The failure to carve out a sufficient advantage came back to bite Senior's youngsters when Rovers netted a late penalty.

Senior said: "It was one of those games where we should have run out comfortable winners. You have situations like Forest Green getting their penalty so many times in football.

"Teams have dominated games and had chances but did not take them and the other sides can always come back and get something. But the plus thing was we did create chances."

Senior praised new signing Morgan who has joined the Magpies from Yeovil Town. "He looked sharp and could have had a hat-trick," said Senior.

Senior is looking ahead to Saturday's clash at top-of-the-table Hamworthy United.

"We have had two better performances back to back now but have only come out with a point," he said. "We should have got something from the game at Eastleigh and three points against Forest Green. It will be a really tough one on Saturday."
