Get on board urges Magpies' chief

Dorchester Town chairman Eddie Mitchell is on the lookout for potential
investors but stressed that he has no plans to sell the club.
Following a rather positive pre-season campaign, which has seen Dorchester beat local rivals Weymouth and draw with a Portsmouth XI and AFC Bournemouth, Mitchell has called on the town's fans to get behind the Magpies and help the club prosper.
But with economic problems plaguing the nation, the property developer admits that times are hard and is keen to help generate as much money as possible.
He said: "The doom and gloom of the nation is not one that can be ignored and as everyone is aware the country has entered uncertain times. Both companies and people are tightening their purse strings and disposable income is harder to come by.
"So as of now I am seeking and inviting potential investors to meet with me and share the dream I have, which is for the club to thrive and go forwards and upwards, by investing money into Dorchester Town FC.
"I have no intention to sell the club but am seeking serious investors who, like me, want to see such an ambitious football club succeed.
"As I have said all along, the club should be playing at a higher level so this is one way I am trying to make this happen."
And Mitchell is keen to see the supporters do their bit to help boost funds by improving on last season's average home attendance of 443.
He added: "With the credit crunch it has become harder to support the club so I'm pleading to the fans to help me with my burden as I'm finding it hard to support the club on my own.
"It would be nice if we could get more support as it means there is a better likelihood that the club will prosper.
"I'm pumping money into the club every week and it isn't going to survive if we're not careful. The overall scheme of things is that it's hard to make ends meet.
"Most clubs at this level in football are in the same boat, as the economic climate in the country is awful.
"The club is on a steady footing but the difference between this year and last season is considerable.
"It's easier for me if I'm being supported by everyone else, all it takes is for one supporter to bring a friend and the problems with running the club disappear."
Despite capturing the likes of Kevin Hill, Nick Crittenden and Jamie Mudge this summer Mitchell said that he has not increased the playing budget from last season but is confident in the ability of the team that manager Shaun Brooks has put together.
He added: "On the playing side, if everyone puts in the same amount of effort as I put into the club then we'll win games. There's no reason why we can't finish pretty high this season. I'm optimistic about the performances and I'm not one for giving up."
