Magpies triumph in local derby
by
Adam Summers
Dorchester Town Under-18s came from a goal down to beat Dorset Youth
Division One side Weymouth Youth in their latest pre-season friendly.
Weymouth went ahead after just ten minutes when Alex Godfrey found
himself unmarked at the far post to fire the ball beyond keeper
Sam Filkins.
Charlie Lee then made it five goals in as many games when he put
the Magpies back on level terms on 22 minutes.
And this was by far his best of the summer, turning two defenders
and hitting an 20 yard strike to give Jake Johnson no chance in
the Weymouth goal.
Neil Kellaway put the Magpies 2 -1 up on the half-hour with a rebound
after Dan Critchell's header had hit the bar and that is how it
stayed before the break.
In the second period both sides cancelled each other out before
Godfrey grabbed his second with ten minutes remaining to get his
team back on level terms.
A draw now looked on the cards but just five minutes later Lewis
Trevett latched on to a fine pass by Adam Taylor and slotted the
ball in from close range to take the Magpies' pre-season record
to three wins out of five.
