Weston woe angers Brooks
by

Shaun Brooks admitted he was "bitterly disappointed" with his side's
display in Dorchester Town's 2-1 defeat to Weston-super-Mare yesterday
at the Jewson Stadium.
The Magpies found themselves a goal down midway through the first half when Marc McGregor headed home.
But a fantastic effort from Jamie Mudge brought the scores level until Darren Mullings nicked all three points for the visitors in the 78th minute to end Dorchester's unbeaten record this season.
And the Magpies' chief was none too pleased after the game.
He said: "A spell of ten minutes at the end of the first half where we showed some courage was the only time that we played in the entire game.
"Other than that, for some strange reason, our players thought it was okay to keep kicking the ball on to the opposing defenders' heads, which we never asked them to do.
"We wanted them to move and pass the ball, and the inability to do that was staggering at times so I'm bitterly disappointed.
"We set out to play a decent brand of football but there was a clear inability to do it - they weren't brave enough.
"We've done it before and in pre-season but it was an unbelievably poor performance for the majority of the game."
Yesterday's loss came just 48 hours after the Magpies earned a point at Newport County in a dramatic 4-4 draw. But Brooks believes the short space of time in between the two games played no part in the defeat to Weston.
He added: "It was the same for Weston. Two games in three days you should relish so there are no excuses, we've got to look at ourselves and do better.
"We've got just two points from a possible nine at home this season and that's no where near good enough. Six points from 15 altogether isn't good enough.
"If we keep playing like we did against Weston then it's going to be another long hard season.
"The players have got to hold their hands up and do more to earn their positions at the football club."
Defender Gary Bowles, who missed the game at Newport due to illness, started against Weston but was substituted after just 26 minutes.
Brooks said: "After 20 minutes Gary said he wasn't feeling well. We wanted to give him a go as he gives us some balance in defence being a right-sided player and obviously we ended the game with four left-footers across the back four."
