Magpies 'not right' for Hill

Dorchester Town have missed out on signing Torquay United's longest-serving
player Kevin Hill on loan.
The 31-year-old spent last weekend mulling over
the move having made only two full appearances for the Gulls this
season.
However, he is eight appearances away from breaking United's
all-time appearance record and wants fight for his first-team place.
Town assistant-manager Paul Compton said: "Kevin chose to
stay with Torquay and we have to respect that. That is the increasing
problem we are having - players are looking at our position and
the distance they have to travel."
Hill said: "I would love to be playing every game but the
move did not feel right. I really enjoy the training at Torquay,
keep myself very fit and I want to be part of this season."
Torquay manager Paul Buckle said: "I wanted to give him
the chance to go out on loan but I had mixed feelings about it -
I really did not want him to go."
Compton was hoping to hear back from a striker, having missed
out on signing Bath City's former Weymouth forward Scott Partridge
on loan.
"I hope I will know something today," said Compton yesterday.
Town fielded one trialist, forward Denilson, and several
under-18 players in Tuesday's 2-0 friendly reverse at Portland United.
Meanwhile, stand-in skipper Mark Jermyn believes the team
need to rediscover the mentality of Mark Morris' Magpies.
"We did not have the best team in the world but one that
wanted to win for each other," said Jermyn. "We used to nick a lot
of games in the last five minutes through pure willingness to go
that extra mile. I want to see Dorchester get back to that."
