Dorchester Town Football Club are delighted to announce the signing
of Portuguese goalkeeper Francisco Ramos after he secured his release
from Maidenhead United last week.
The 24-year-old, known as "Chico", spent six years at Benfica where
he rose from playing in the youth team to be third choice keeper
for the first team.
He was signed by Steve Claridge for Weymouth in October 2004 and
made a very impressive debut just days later in their FA Cup 3rd
Qualifying Round match against the Magpies at the Avenue Stadium.
After being released at the end of the season by Garry Hill, Ramos
went on to have brief spells at Torquay, Forest Green and Weston-super-Mare
before signing for Maidenhead in March 2006.
In just under two years with the Berkshire based Magpies Ramos made 72 appearances and became something of a cult hero with the fans. His performances during their promotion winning season from the Southern Premier League earned him the Supporters Player of the Year award.
Ramos goes straight into the squad that travels to face Cambridge City on Saturday.
