Jermyn: We're lacking leaders

Mark Jermyn believes the Magpies would not be in the position they
are had they kept hold of their more experienced players back in
the summer.
Dorchester lie five points adrift of safety in Blue Square South but Jermyn, in his eighth season at the county town outfit, is certain the somewhat youthful squad will avoid the drop.
He told Echosport: "I'm adamant that we'll stay up, we've got more to give between now and the end of the season.
"Last Saturday's draw at Cambridge showed that we have enough drive to get out of the situation we are in. We showed a lot of spirit, something that has been lacking at times, and the lads had a never-say-die attitude about them.
"To be in the situation we are is hard for myself and the likes of Alex Browne to understand, it's strange to see the club taking a step back when we are trying to move forward.
"It's a pity we didn't keep hold of a few players at the start of the season. If we still had the likes of Justin Keeler, Matt Groves and Scott Morgan I doubt we would be where we are now, not based on ability but on pure character and passion for the club, I reckon we'd be around the top six.
"With the club going full-time I thought I'd be out of a job, but it wasn't taken into consideration how tough the league is and I think that next season the club will bring in a lot more experienced players."
The Magpies face fellow strugglers Sutton United at the Jewson Stadium on Saturday, a game the 26-year-old believes could make or break their season.
He added: "It's a massive game for us and one I believe could more or less determine how the season goes for us.
"However, it was refreshing to see some fight in the players against Cambridge so I'm hoping that we can come away with the three points this weekend."
Between now and the end of the campaign Jermyn, whose recorded the most minutes for the Magpies this season, is hopeful that the county town hierarchy can bring in more recruits to join their latest signing - keeper Francisco Ramos.
The versatile midfielder said: "It was nice to have Chico come in because he's got experience at this level and that makes a massive difference because younger players need team-mates who can help give them guidance.
"I still feel we need a striker though. Jones Awuah has done fantastic for us up front but when Alex, whose not a striker, played as a forward at Cambridge it was clear to see what the league is about.
"He won headers and flick-ons which takes so much pressure off the rest of the team.
"We've got 13 games still to play and hopefully we will get someone in who can help give us an extra push.
"I know a lot of people think we will get relegated so it's important the fans get behind us and we all stick together."
Meanwhile, Dorchester have missed out on two more new faces according to assistant-manager Paul Compton.
He said: "We've had two players refuse to come down this week, they obviously want easy money as opposed to playing every week. We are still waiting on one or two but it is proving to be a hard slog."
Compton also played down any potential move for defender Joel Kitamirike following his release by Weymouth, adding: "Getting a striker on board is our main priority."
