Sutton showdown
The Magpies' assistant-manager was keen to play down last month's so-called six-pointer' with St Albans City, which ended in defeat, and is doing the same ahead of tomorrow's crunch match. He said: "It is vitally important, an extra special game for us, but it's not just about this game, we can't go thinking that our season depends on this one match, we've still got another 12 after this one to think about." And Compton is hoping last Saturday's point at Cambridge City can prove to be a turning point following five straight league defeats beforehand. He added: "It'll be about getting everyone in the right frame of mind, however, the players shouldn't need help in that department. As long as we take the positives from last week's draw at Cambridge into Saturday then we should be okay because we showed a lot of character in that game. "The more experienced players in the squad come to the fore week-in-week-out, we need every one of our players to do their bit and step up to the plate." The county town side will have fond memories of their last meeting with Sutton, who they beat 3-1 at Gander Green Lane in September, but the same was said before the ill-fated 3-0 home defeat to St Albans four weeks ago. Compton said: "What has happened in the past is in the past. Things change very quickly in football and results differ from week to week, we just have to take each game as it comes." Dorchester lie level on points with Sutton and the pair prop up the table five points from safety. And the Magpies could be without leading goal scorer Jones Awuah for tomorrow's game. Compton added: "Jones hasn't been in training because he is still feeling the effects of an infection so we will have to wait and see if he's okay for Saturday." Club captain Alex Browne could be drafted in as a makeshift striker once more after netting the opening goal at Cambridge last week. Potential new faces are still proving hard to find, and Compton has cooled down rumours of raiding neighbours Weymouth for any of their fringe players. He said: "As always the search is still on going. Rumours are just rumours and there's plenty of them in football. "We'll continue to do what we can in terms of bringing in players but we need to make sure we get the team we do have organised for Saturday."
