Double signing gives Magpies a boost
by Rob Hodder
Dorchester Town Football Club have completed a double signing ahead
of their crucial Blue Square South fixture on Saturday away at Fisher
Athletic.
Magpies Director of Football Shaun Brooks has today completed the signing of former Barnsley and Nottingham Forest defender Patrece Liburd as well as securing the Salisbury City striker Nick Eastham on a loan deal.
19-year-old Liburd, who is a full international with St. Kitts &
Nevis, has been training with the Magpies this week and has looked
impressive so far.
Speaking after training today Brooks said: "Patrece is a big strong
lad who is around 6' 2", good in the air and a decent defender.
I am delighted that he has agreed to join us.
"He has some experience of this level having played earlier on
in the season for Worcester in the Blue Square North and has just
returned from playing for St. Kitts in a World Cup Qualifying match.
"His approach to the training has been first class and he has fitted in with the rest of the players immediately which is always a good sign."
Salisbury City striker Nick Eastham has struggled to break into
the Whites' Blue Square National team this season with Robbie
Matthews and former Magpie Matt Tubbs in such good form. His appearences
have been limited to their Wiltshire Premier Shield run and numerous
reserve team outings where he has been finding the net regulary,
including a four goal haul in the 10-0 thrashing of Southern Premier
League side Swindon Supermarine in the semi-final of the Shield.
Eastham has also enjoyed a recent loan spell with Toolstation Western Premier side Calne Town.
Brooks commented, "Nick is a decent size and a strong lad who will
work hard and run all day for his team.
"He is highly thought of by Nick Holmes at Salisbury who I have a great deal of respect for and needs to be playing at as high a level as possible if he is to continue to develop for them and I am pleased that Nick (Holmes) wants him with us."
Both Liburd and Eastham go straight into the squad that travels
to Fisher on Saturday, but Jon Docker and Eric Manangu will miss
out due to suspension.
