Magpies complete signings hat-trick

Dorchester Town have made three new signings ahead of their important
trip to Eastleigh in Blue Square South.
Keeper Martin Horsell, central-midfielder Danny Clay and striker
Tom Clarke have arrived at the Jewson Stadium.
Magpies' assistant-manager Paul Compton said: "It is a case
of fresh faces, fresh ideas and fresh impetus. That is what we need
with a game against Eastleigh on Saturday.
"I see those players' enthusiasm and willingness to do well
which is what we need because I think one or two members of the
squad have gone a little bit stale."
Former Torquay United first-team keeper Horsell has also been with
Bristol Rovers.
Compton said: "He has had Football League experience at Torquay
United. He is still only 21 but is learning and developing.
"I know the lad and he is prepared to travel from Torquay."
Of the other two new additions, Compton said: "We have taken
Danny Clay on a month's loan.
"He was successful for the Salisbury City side that won promotion
(to the Blue Square Premier) last year and played nearly every game
but he has not managed to break into the team on a regular basis
this season.
"He is something we are looking for in central-midfield. He
is a little bit different and has a knowledge of the league and
what is required as well.
"Tom Clarke, who has been released by Yeovil Town, will play
on a match-to-match basis.
"He is the opposite to what we were looking for because were
looking for a big lad but his movement was very good on Tuesday
(in a goal-less friendly draw at home to Salisbury) against two
decent centre-halves and his working alongside Jones Awuah will
give us something different from what we have had this season. We
just needed to shake it up.
"We said after the game on Saturday (a defeat by fellow strugglers
St Albans City) that we would and that is what (director of football)
Shaun Brooks and I have done."
All three new players could go straight into the team for Saturday's
match in Hampshire - and further signings have not been ruled out.
Looking to the Eastleigh clash, Compton said: "It is a big
game for us. We are fortunate in the fact that the teams around
us did not win during the week so we are still only three or four
points off fourth-bottom spot.
"So we are very fortunate but we cannot keep relying on other
people. We have got to start doing it ourselves and make inroads
into climbing up the league."
