Magpies' double delight
by
Rob Hodder
Dorchester Town Football Club are delighted to announce the signing
today of striker Ryan Moss.
Moss has signed a one year contract with the Magpies after they
agreed an undisclosed training compensation fee under the Bosman
regulations with Bashley for the 21-year-old striker.
Moss had a brief spell with his home town club Dorchester in 2006
before signing for Bashley where he went on to make 98 first team
appearances scoring 42 goals in two very successful seasons with
the New Forest outfit.
Also joining the Magpies today, despite being courted by another
Blue Square South club, is attacking midfielder Nick Crittenden,
who has this afternoon signed a two year contract.
The 29-year-old began his career as a trainee with Chelsea where
he made just three first team appearances before having a short
loan spell with Plymouth Argyle.
He joined Yeovil Town in 2000 where he enjoyed four successful
seasons, winning the FA Trophy as well as back-to-back promotions
from the Conference National into League One.
On leaving Yeovil Crittenden moved back to the Conference National
where he has played since then in spells with Aldershot and more
recently Weymouth.
On completing his first two new signings of the summer, Magpies
manager Shaun Brooks was clearly delighted and said: "I am
really pleased to have secured the signatures of both Ryan Moss
and Nick Crittenden today.
"I have been tracking Ryan since the New Year and have been
very impressed by his performances. He is big, strong and has a
good physical presence up front which will be well suited in the
Conference South.
"He creates goals and most importantly he scores them and
I think he will fast become a fans' favourite."
On the capture of the former Yeovil Town star Nick Crittenden,
he added: "Nick will be a massive signing for this club.
"He is a very experienced footballer who, despite being only
29, has almost 300 league appearances to his name at a minimum of
Conference National level.
"Despite strong interest from a Blue Square club, negotiations
were quite quick, made easier by the fact that the lad really wanted
to join Dorchester Town. He is aware of what we are trying to achieve
here and wanted to be a part of it."
Magpie fans may not have to wait long for the next group of signings
as Brooks is hoping to secure the signatures of two more Conference
National players in the next few days.
