Clay agrees terms with Magpies
by Rob Hodder
Dorchester Town Football Club are delighted to announce that Danny
Clay has agreed terms on a two-year contract and will join the Magpies
on a free transfer from Blue Square Premier side Salisbury City.
The deal will be finalised when the Salisbury secretary returns
from holiday.
The 22-year-old midfielder enjoyed a three-month loan spell with
the Magpies at the end of last season and had been keen to make
the move permanent.
Clay joined Salisbury from Exeter City, initially on loan, in 2006
where he had come through their youth ranks and into the first
team, making 28 appearances for the Grecians including both historic
matches against Manchester United in the FA Cup.
In his time with the Whites he made 50 appearances, scoring two
goals, and was a key member of their team that won promotion from
the Conference South two seasons ago.
After agreeing terms with Clay, Dorchester manager Shaun Brooks
said, "I am delighted to have secured Danny on
a contract. He came in towards the end of
last season
on loan and
had a really positive effect on the team.
"He is a very determined midfielder
who breaks up the opposition play
well and uses the ball intelligently."
Brooks is still in talks with several Blue Square
Premier players and we hope to be in a position to announce more
signings over the coming week.
