Brooks returns and sets survival target
by

Despite gaining a "well-earned point" at high-flying Fisher
Athletic, Shaun Brooks believes the Magpies could have gone away
from Champion Hill with all three.
The Dorchester Town director of football saw his side move to within
three points of safety in Blue Square South when Jones Awuah equalised
shortly after Shaun Batt's 49th minute strike put the Fish in front.
Brooks said: "It was a positive performance from us, however,
I'm a bit disappointed because we found ourselves in good positions
towards the end of the game but were unable to make the final ball
count.
"We could have won the game but at the end of the day it's
a well-earned point. We looked like a solid compact unit throughout
given that Fisher are flying in terms of form. They had just one
chance in the first half and scored with their only other chance
of the game.
"The result shows what we are capable of. If we can repeat
that level of performance and commitment then we will be okay."
Brooks handed debuts to defender Patrece Liburd and on-loan striker
Nick Eastham, who has joined the county town outfit on a month's
deal from Salisbury City.
Brooks was pleased with the displays of his latest acquisitions.
He added: "Patrece played alongside Roy O'Brien at the back,
he is lacking match fitness at the moment so only lasted 60 minutes,
however, he looked good.
"Nick has not played at this level before but he leads the
line well and is a real pest to opposition defenders. He put in
a hard working performance and is the type of target man we've been
after."
Dorchester now have 21 points from 32 games in the league this
campaign. And with ten fixtures still to play, Brooks has set a
target over the coming month.
He said: "We've set ourselves a points target for March, a
target we all think we can achieve but one we won't be divulging.
"March is an important month but if we can reach our target
then we will put ourselves in a good position going into the last
month of the season."
Brooks has now returned to work full-time following his battle
with cancer.
He added: "It's been a long wait for me and I've been champing
at the bit to get back. We had fantastic support at Fisher and hopefully
we've given them something to be positive about."
