Forbes not giving up on survival hopes
by

Ivan Forbes remains confident the Magpies can avoid relegation despite
seeing their plight worsen over the weekend.
Dorchester's game with Maidenhead United was called off with just
four minutes to go while relegation rivals Welling United and St
Albans City both picked up wins, leaving the county town side eight
points adrift of safety.
The Magpies' tricky winger though, has not given up on survival
in Blue Square South.
He said: "We are all confident. I believe we can stay up and
if we keep working as hard as we have in our last few games then
we have a good chance.
"We only look at what we are doing and what we have to do,
which is to win games. If we can win most of the games we have left
then we will put ourselves in a great position.
"At Bognor Regis the week before we could have nicked the
win and I'll admit I missed some chances to score. We just need
to keep our heads up, continue to work hard and improve our home
form."
The Portuguese forward came on as substitute midway through the
second half on Saturday, at which point the Jewson Stadium pitch
had a battering from the persistent rain.
Forbes added: "The heavy pitch made it very difficult to play.
I thought I was through at one point but with the state of the pitch
you could never tell where the ball would stop.
"I couldn't believe the conditions when I was sat on the bench
but when you get on you just have to deal with it. I enjoyed it
although it's an experience I'm not used to.
"Within a minute of coming on I slid in for a tackle and went
straight into a pool of water. I came up and there was mud and water
all over me so it was a new experience. The game being replayed
is good for us because we need to win matches. Playing in better
conditions will help us play better football as well, anything could
have happened in the last few minutes against Maidenhead."
