Ground rules may be a lifeline for Town
by

Dorchester Town could remain a Blue Square South club even if they
finish the season in a relegation position.
New ground-grading rules are being introduced for step-two sides
from next season - and that means member clubs must have a venue
with a minimum capacity of 3,000 and 250 seats.
Blue Square South outfits Cambridge City, Eastleigh, Lewes and
Weston-super-Mare are in danger of not achieving the B grading by
the Monday deadline. If they do not satisfy the regulations, they
will face potential relegation.
A Football Association spokesman said: "If they do not meet
the stated grading requirements they could be relegated, regardless
of league position. But it is important to stress the ground-grading
criteria were formulated and designed by the leagues with the FA
advising on them.
"If a club do miss the deadline and cannot meet the 3,000
mark, the leagues and the FA will decide on that club's future."
The ground-grading rules could also affect clubs chasing promotion
from the Ryman, British Gas Business Southern and Unibond leagues.
Of those who might qualify for a Blue Square South place, Chelmsford
City, Staines Town and Horsham are facing a battle to meet Monday's
deadline.
In addition, there is uncertainty about the future of Blue Square
South sides Basingstoke Town and Fisher Athletic following financial
restructuring.
