Extra 'spice' at Jewson Stadium
by
Howard Milton
Dorchester Town's home game with Maidenhead United on Tuesday has
been given extra "spice" by the fact the Berkshire outfit
are being drawn into the relegation dogfight.
That is the view of Maidenhead boss Johnson Hippolyte,
who described as "mad" the decision to abandon the original
fixture.
The 15 March game was called off after 86 minutes due to a waterlogged
pitch, the score 1-1.
Hippolyte said: "We had four minutes to go and I thought the
referee would play on for a few minutes and then blow his whistle.
"We have now got to leave work two or three hours early and
will get back at 1.30am and all for a game which had only four minutes
to go. Calling it off after 86 minutes seems mad.
"It means us travelling again and is a major problem for us.
A rule is needed for the sake of common sense.
"Things have changed slightly since we last played Dorchester,
with everybody around us in the table winning while we have been
losing.
"So we need three points now as do Dorchester and it gives
the game a bit more spice.
"We are hoping 1 April will bring us some good luck because
we had a terrible March."
