Brooks keeps faith as defender search breaks down
by
Adam Summers
Dorchester Town manager Shaun Brooks' hopes of drafting in an experienced
defender before tonight's clash with Team Bath at the Jewson Stadium
have not materialised.
So the determined boss will have to keep faith with the same squad
that were beaten 4-0 at Fisher Athletic on Saturday but that does
not mean there will not be changes.
Brooks said: "We have not had any luck in terms of finding
someone to come in so it will be a bit of a reshuffle tonight.
"It will be the same squad of players we took to Fisher but
we will move one or two around. We have got a team in mind and if
they perform there is no reason why we cannot get a good result
that will kick-start our season again."
The Magpies have conceded ten goals in their last three games and
are now 15th in Blue Square South, seven points adrift of Team Bath
who sit fourth.
Brooks added: "The majority of our lads are part-time so we
leave them on a Saturday and do not see them again until the Tuesday
but we have got to pick them up and they have got to pick themselves
up.
"We made a solid start in the opening couple of games and
just because we have had a few disappointing results it is not all
doom and gloom.
"We have a very good squad of players here and now is the
time that they must start turning their potential into solid and
more consistent performances. If they do that then the results will
come.
"Tonight's opponents are flying at the moment and they will
be a handful. They are well-organised and very fit but I have every
confidence in our players who can be more than a match for anyone,
and if we defend properly then it will give us a great chance."
Roy O'Brien (ankle), Mark Jermyn (knee) and Ivan Forbes (knee)
remain sidelined with long-term injuries for the Magpies, who are
still searching for their first home win of the campaign.
