Fundraising tournament a success

A Jack Williams golden goal from the penalty spot in the second period of extra-time for Sherborne Town under-10s, and goals from Alex Dobson and George Heap for Corfe Mullen under-9s won their teams the honours at Dorchester Town's seven-a-side mini-soccer tournament at the Jewson Stadium on Sunday.

The event, sponsored by Dorchester companies Hutchings Heating and Stag Fencing and Landscapes, was part of the on-going fundraising for the Magpies under-18 team, and saw teams from Bridport, Chickerell, Corfe Mullen, Dorchester, Sherborne and Weymouth take part.

Meanwhile, Goulds of Dorchester has won the under-18s patrons draw and the department store will have their company name on the home shirts for the forthcoming season. For information on how to sponsor the 2008-09 away shirts, please telephone team manager Phil Basford on 07966 507149.

The Magpies have been drawn at home to Dorset Youth League Division Two side Stourvale in the Dorset Youth Cup. The match will take place on Sunday 5th October, kick-off 2.00pm.
