Hill faces fitness battle

Kevin Hill believes his chances of playing in Saturday’s home
clash with Bath City are “touch and go”.
The Magpies’ skipper sustained a foot injury in the goalless
draw with Newport County nine days ago and subsequently missed
last weekend’s 3-1 defeat at Bromley.
Hill is eager to face the Romans this Saturday, and maintain Dorchester’s
run of two clean sheets at the Jewson Stadium, but will not risk
making the problem worse.
The defender said: “I’m walking a lot easier than
I had been but it’s touch and go whether I play on Saturday.
“I’m keen to get back out there as I hate watching
and so far we haven’t conceded at home this season.
“I think we’ll leave the decision of whether I play
or not as late as possible and I may have a late fitness test on
Saturday – we’ll just have to wait and see.
“I’ll be sensible though as in the past I’ve
rushed myself back from injuries and then been out for even longer.
“I’m looking to play Saturday but I know that it’s
touch and go.”
Fit or not, Hill is hopeful that the county town side can gain
at least three points from the August Bank Holiday weekend fixtures.
Following Saturday’s home match, the Magpies, who lie 19th
in Blue Square South, visit high-flying Basingstoke Town on Monday.
Hill added: “We’ve got two hard games coming up but
if we can get three or four points then we’ll be happy with
that given the position we’re in at the moment.
“We just need to maintain our focus right through to the
end of games. We’ve got the players to do well but it’s
all about belief.”
