Fans out to raise funds

Dorset Echoby Ky Capel

Dorchester Town supporters will go head-to-head tomorrow in a bid to raise funds for their beloved club.

Two teams of county town followers will take to the Jewson Stadium pitch (11am) with each player donating a sum of £15 towards to the club kitty.

A similar match, in aid of the Dorset & Somerset Air Ambulance, took place last year and had to be settled via the penalty spot after finishing 2-2.

Dev Ward, who will manage one of this year’s teams, was part of the wining side last time out and is hoping for a repeat show.

He said: “We had a similar match last year that successfully raised money for charity and it was decided that we would raise money for the club by using a similar principle. With each player contributing £15, plus any takings on the day, hopefully it can raise some much-needed funds.”

There is no admission charge to watch the game but donations to the club will be welcome. Refreshments and a raffle are available.
