Gorka set to return in March

Gorka Etxeberria has praised Dorchester’s recent run of form
and hopes to return to the county town at the end of March.
The Basque-born coach is currently back home in San Sebastian,
still hopeful of eventually being named the permanent successor
to former Magpies’ boss Roy O’Brien.
Etxeberria has been keeping tabs on the Magpies’ fortunes
of late and is pleased to see an upturn in results.
Dorchester, with caretaker-boss Ashley Vickers at the helm, have
suffered just one defeat in their last six games and Etxeberria
said: “I keep in contact with Shaun Hearn and I know that
the team is doing very well at the moment.
“I hope it will continue like this so that the team can
move up the table into a better position.”
The former Real Zaragoza assistant appeared to be the frontrunner
for the vacant manager’s role but was forced to return to
his native San Sebastian last month as ongoing legal issues with
former chairman Eddie Mitchell continue to delay the appointment
of a permanent boss.
Etxeberria, who is set to hold a youth training camp in Dorchester
during the Easter holidays, added: “The legal problems remain
so I must wait a little longer. I have good plans for the club
but I must wait to know if it is possible to carry them out or
not.
“Hopefully after the training camp we’ll know what’s
going to happen with the legal problems and we’ll be able
to decide what to do.
“I’m waiting for that, and I’ve rejected some
possibilities here as first we must see if it’s possible
to work at Dorchester or not.”
Dorchester chairman Shaun Hearn and caretaker-manager Ashley
Vickers will be on hand to answer questions at a Fans’ Forum
tomorrow at the Jewson Stadium (6.30pm).
