Official Club Statement: Unruly terrace behaviour

From the Board of Directors

The Board of Directors has been disturbed to see unruly scenes recently between a faction of supporters behind the goal and our stewards.
This did not reflect well on a family club and was upsetting to other supporters who were nearby.

Whilst we fully understand that this particular section of young supporters wish to be more active and vocal in support of their team, in the interests of safety we cannot condone the use of smoke bombs or any similar items such as flares within the stadium.

The club has a responsibility to protect the public from any perceived hazard whilst they are in and around the Stadium and therefore the Board expects all supporters to respect the requests and advice of both our stewards and our Safety Officer, who are at the ground to ensure the safety of all concerned.

The Avenue Stadium should be a safe and non- intimidating environment for all our supporters and we are concerned that the behaviour of a minority may adversely affect our image as a family club.

Therefore in the best interests of the club we all support we ask that this type of incident does not occur again.

Thank you for your co-operation.
