Hill mulls over new contract

Full-back Ryan Hill is the latest Magpie to be offered a new deal.
The deadball specialist, who rejoined the county town club at
the end of November, is mulling over a one-year contract.
Should Hill choose to extend his stay at the Avenue Stadium, the
23-year-old would follow in the footsteps of Mark Jermyn, Kyle
Critchell, Nathan Walker and Ryan Moss, who all put pen to paper
after Saturday’s 4-2 win over Weston-super-Mare.
Manager Ashley Vickers, who revealed he is also discussing a possible
extension with left-sided player Neil Martin, said: “We’ve
offered Ryan a new deal and he’s thinking about it.
“There are not many others that are out of contract at the
end of the season so with some of the lads who were on two-year
deals we are hoping to renegotiate.
“However, there’s no reason why they would not carry
on with the contracts they already have.”
Those who are already contracted for next season include skipper
Kevin Hill, winger Nick Crittenden, keeper Regan Coward, defenders
Jake Smeeton and Gary Bowles and midfielders Jamie Gleeson and
Harry Nodwell.
Harry Montacute, who has cancelled his current deal in order to
see out the season with Gillingham Town, is expected to return
to Dorchester in time for the 2010/11 campaign.
Vickers added: “Kev, Jamie, Regan, Critts, Jake, Bowlesy
and Nodders all have another year to run. Monty has cancelled his
contract to stay at Gillingham for the rest of the season but we
will look to get him back on the same sort of contract for next
season.”
Meanwhile, non-contract duo Josh Llewellyn and Scott Brice have
impressed Vickers since switching from rivals Weymouth.
But with the former missing the last two games through injury
and the latter restricted to just two substitute appearances, the
Magpies’ chief will wait a little longer before deciding
their fate.
He said: “I’ve been impressed with the way they’ve
conducted themselves so far, hopefully we’ll get to see them
in a few more games before the season ends.”
Midfield man James Coutts agreed terms on a new two-year contract
at the weekend.
* Ticket prices for Dorchester’s trip to Eastleigh on Friday
have been reduced to £5 with children under the age of 12
gaining free entry.
* Dorchester Town Under-18s were due to take on Poole Town at
the Avenue Stadium tonight but the match has been postponed because
of a saturated pitch.
