Ashley Vickers has approached AFC Bournemouth about the possibility of prolonging Danny Ings’ stay at the Avenue Stadium.

The Dorchester Town boss confirmed he had spoken to the Cherries’ assistant-manager Jason Tindall and hopes to agree an extension before the 18-year-old’s one-month loan deal expires.

Ings has made a significant impression since signing for the Magpies and earned the man-of-the-match award for his display against Ebbsfleet United on his debut.

Vickers, whose side have won their last two competitive matches, said: “I have already spoken to Jason about this issue and I will pursue it again.

“Danny has done very well since he joined us and if there was a chance I could keep him here for longer then I’d love that to happen, because he’s had a big impact on the team.

“It’s hard to believe he is only 18 because his attitude is excellent. I know he is enjoying his time with us and he gets on really well with the other lads.”

Meanwhile, Dorchester beat Magna Dorset Premier League side Chickerell United 6-0 in a behind-closed-doors friendly on Tuesday evening.
