Dorchester Town Reserves returned to winning ways
with a fine display at high-flying Christchurch.
Alex Godfrey gave the Magpies a deserved lead, only for the home
side to turn the tables with a goal either side of the break.
The young visitors refused to lie down and saw Josh Tennant, Jack
Twyford and substitute Alex Andrews complete an impressive victory
– the county town outfit’s first in the Wyvern Premier
League since January 11.
Boss Robbie Taylor, whose side are now level on points with fourth-placed
Priory, said: “The lads played exceptionally well on Saturday
and they got their just rewards.
“We didn’t have any older heads from the first team
and we also had others missing through injury and unavailability,
so it was a great opportunity for the younger ones who have been
on the fringes.
“They all played well and they needed to. We totally dominated
the first 20 minutes and at 1-0 we didn’t look to be in any
trouble.
“It was then all about keeping our concentration but a little
lapse allowed them to make it 1-1 at half-time.
“We started very well in the second half but went 2-1 down
and I thought ‘here we go’.
“But we equalised with a good finish from Josh and then took
control of the game again.
“Jack moved up front and produced a cracking finish for the
third before young Alex came on and scored the fourth.
“We played some really nice football and over the last three
games the lads have looked very mature. Everything seems to be sinking
in.
“Results are not important but they do give the boys a little
boost.”
The Magpies are in Wyvern Challenge Shield action this evening
as they visit Ring-wood for a Group A encounter (7.45pm).
Taylor added: “Adam Taylor and Antony Carlile should be available
but Lloyd Beals picked up a knock on Saturday and Sam Buckler’s
got a bit of a groin strain so we’ll have to see how they
are.”
Magpies: Floyd, Beals (Turner 77), A Symes, S Buckler, S Walker,
