Bromley blow for Magpies

Dorset Echoby Echo Reporter

Dorchester Town suffered their third Blue Square South defeat of the season after going down at Hayes Lane.

Warren McBean almost put the home side ahead after just three minutes after he was played through on goal by Ryan Hall but he was denied by Magpies’ keepeer Ryan Northmore.

From the resulting corner, Tutu Henriques headed the ball towards goal and McBean flicked the ball past Northmore to put the Lillywhites in front.

However, the visitors equalised just before the half-hour mark through Matt Groves.

Ivan Forbes’ cross was met by Groves and the striker tucked the ball under home keeper Gareth Williams at the far post despite pressure from Bromley captain Rob Gilman.

The Magpies nearly went in front a few minutes later after a mistake by Gareth Williams.

The home stopper dropped Nick Crittenden’s cross but recovered to make a superb save from Groves before Phil Walsh put the ball over the top from close range.

Dorchester were to regret that miss as McBean grabbed his second goal of the game just three minutes after Walsh’s miss.

Mark Corneille’s lofted through ball found McBean and the striker coolly placed the ball past North-more to put Bromley back in front.

Groves had another chance soon after when he beat Harrison Dunk to a long ball before seeing his shot well saved by Williams.

Forbes then came so close to levelling the scores when Liam Norval misjudged a header back to Will-iams and the Magpies’ winger raced through on goal and he attempted to header the ball over the Bromley keeper but Williams did superbly well to tip the ball around a post.

In the second half, Gareth Williams had the first chance of the half when his shot was well blocked by Ryan Northmore in the Magpies’ goal.

Walsh then thought he had levelled the scores when he headed home ten minutes into the second half but his header was disallowed for offside.

Ryan Hall then had a free-kick well held by Northmore before McBean failed to find an opening after being played through by Gareth Williams.

Rob Gilman then denied Forbes with a superb sliding tackle after the visiting attacker had broken through past the challenges from Norval and Nicky Greene.

With seven minutes to go, Dorchester won a free-kick a long way out from goal, and Tom Mitchell blasted the ball but Gareth Williams held the free-kick well.

Dorchester then threatened with another free-kick but after a goalmouth scramble, Norval did well to clear the ball away.

Bromley then wrapped up the win in injury-time after some superb work from Marcus Cassius.

Greene’s long clearance was well chased down by Cassius and the striker took the ball past Martin before laying it back to Hall and the winger curled the ball past Northmore at the goalkeeper’s near post to seal the three points for the home side.
