Shaun began his career as an apprentice at Crystal
Palace in 1979, and went on to play for them for four seasons under
managers such as Terry Venables and Alan Mullery in the old First
Division.
On leaving Palace in 1983 he signed for Leyton Orient where he
stayed for four seasons before moving south to Bournemouth in 1987.
Shaun was to play for the Cherries for seven years where he became
a crowd favourite, before spending a year here at the Avenue Stadium
with Dorchester.
After finishing his season with the Magpies, Shaun returned to
Dean Court for one last league appearance before re-signing for
Leyton Orient where he played until the end of his full-time pro
career in 1996.
On ending his professional career he studied hard and qualified
as a sports therapist and also researched sports psychology and
nutrition. His fitness regimes and programmes became well known
around the domestic football scene, and in 2001 he was recruited
by the makers of "Mike Bassett: England Manager" to train
the young actors and ex-footballers ready for filming.
Shaun had a successful season as manager of Ringwood Town in the
late 1990's before taking over at struggling Wessex League club
Bournemouth Poppies in 2001. He stayed there until the end of 2005,
steadying a very rocky ship and recording an infamous FA Cup victory
over The Magpies along the way.
Shaun left to take up the position of Youth Team manager at Premier
League Portsmouth at the end of the 2005 season before being tempted
back into the non-League game by the new majority shareholder of
Dorchester Town, Eddie Mitchell, at the start of this season.
Shaun is currently taking his UEFA "A" Licence.
Shaun Brooks' kit for the 2007-08 season is sponsored by Little
Angus.
