Match Preview - Chertsey (A)

March 3, 2026

By James Gray

Dorchester Town make the midweek trip to face Chertsey Town tonight (7:45pm KO) in the Southern League Premier South.

The fixture pits together two of the division's in-form outfits, with Dorchester having taken 13 points from a possible 15 as part of a unbeaten sequence of results in February.

Chertsey, meanwhile, have lost only once in the league since late November, and will be hoping to improve on their visit to the Avenue Stadium earlier this season, which saw them take a point back to Surrey.

Dorchester interim boss Wes Fogden has insisted that, despite leading the club to its best run of form to date this season, his charges can "keep improving". Indeed, Fogden has cautioned against any signs of complacency creeping in ahead of facing a Chertsey side he believes to be among the Southern League Premier South's "best teams".

Here's everything you need to know ahead of Dorchester's trip to Surrey.

Ones To Watch

Chertsey boast the second best defence in the league - conceding only 34 goals to date - a feat which centre back Eoin Casey has played an integral role in. Casey joined the Curfews last summer from National League South outfit Chesham United, whom he won promotion from the Southern League Premier South with in the 2023/24 season.

Bradley Wilson has been in fine goalscoring form for the Curfews, following his mid-season move to Alwyns Lane from league rivals Basingstoke Town. Wilson has racked up 14 league goals this season, with the majority coming for Chertsey.

Another key attacking player for Magpies fans to look out for is Nathan Minhas, who, like Casey, joined from Chesham at the start of 2026. Minhas scored 52 league goals over two seasons, when he last played Step Three football with Beaconsfield Town.

The Gaffer

Toby Little was given the top job at Alwyns Lane last October, after the club decided to part ways with former boss Josh Gallagher. Little has since overseen an impressive run of form that has seen the Curfews lose just four of 21 league fixtures and move firmly into the playoff race.

Previous Meeting

A largely forgettable 0-0 draw unfolded at the Avenue Stadium when Dorchester and Chertsey last locked horns with one another.

Both sides had a number of chances to open the scoring throughout the 90 minutes, only for goalkeepers - Gerard Benfield and Luke Wynne-Roberts - to prove equally unbeatable and preserve their respective clean sheets.

Here's hoping for a bit more goalmouth action tonight!
