Dorchester Town welcome Farnham Town to the Avenue Stadium today (3pm KO) to round off a bank holiday weekend double serving of match action in the Southern League Premier South.
Newly promoted Farnham have made an excellent, unbeaten start to life at Step 3 and will prove yet another stern test for the Magpies, who are still looking for their first league win of the season. Here's everything you need to know ahead of the visit of Farnham Town.
Farnham In Brief
Founded: 1906
Nickname: The Town
Stadium: The Memorial Ground
Capacity: 1,500
Playing Surface: Grass
Ones To Watch
Bobby-Joe Taylor was arguably the pick of Farnham's summer signings, with the in-demand defender joining from National League South side Dorking Wanderers. Taylor, who spent time on loan at Walton & Hersham last season, has played much of his career in the National League system, winning promotions with Dorking and Maidstone United.
Mat Mackenzie was another eye-catching summer arrival at the Memorial Ground, with the midfielder joining from Hanwell Town. Mackenzie has wasted no time settling into life at Farnham, already recording two goals in the opening rounds of league action.
The Gaffer
Paul Johnson has overseen a remarkable rise at Farnham since his managerial appointment in November 2022, securing back-to-back promotions and league titles for the Surrey-based outfit. Johnson, prior to his arrival at the Memorial Ground, had enjoyed successful spells in charge of Spelthorne Sports and Bedfont Sports.
Form Guide
Magpies - DLDL
Defeat away to Berkhamsted on Saturday means Dorchester are still winless at the start of the 2025/26 campaign. The Magpies kicked off their season with a goalless away draw to Uxbridge before a home defeat and draw versus Tiverton Town and Walton & Hersham respectively.
Town - WDWD
Farnham remain unbeaten in the league at the start of this season, recording wins against Hungerford Town and Chertsey Town either side of a draw away to Gosport Borough. On Saturday, Farnham scored a penalty in second-half added time to secure a point at home to Wimborne Town.
Magpies Mind-Boggler
1.) Today's visitors have this summer been without one of their key players from recent seasons due to his participation on a popular reality TV dating show. But what programme did he participate in?
