By James Gray

Dorchester Town travel to face promotion hopefuls Sholing on Saturday (3pm KO) in the Southern League Premier South.

Magpies boss Tom Killick will be hoping his side can make it back-to-back league wins for the first time this season, after the 2-1 defeat of Hungerford Town last weekend.

The hosts, meanwhile, will be aiming to continue a run of results that has seen them lose just one of their last 10 matches.

Here's everything you need to know ahead of Dorchester's trip to Hampshire.

Ones To Watch

Former Magpie Jake McCarthy has made a big impression on the pitch for Sholing, since joining the club earlier this season from Weymouth. The midfielder is top scorer for the Boatmen in the Southern League Premier South, with 10 goals to his name.

Sholing's No. 9, Daniel Mason, is the club's all time top scorer and one of the most imposing forwards that Dorchester's defence is likely to come up against this season. Daniel is the youngest of three Mason brothers - Barry & Byron - who are synonymous with having all played for Sholing in the club's recent history.

The Gaffer

Paul Doswell was appointed Sholing manager in October 2023, overseeing the establishment of the Boatmen at Step Three and, this season, as a club with ambitions of challenging for promotion.

Doswell was previously manager of Sutton United and Havant & Waterlooville, famously taking the former to the last 32 stage of the FA Cup, where they were knocked out by Premier League outfit Arsenal.

Previous Meeting

Last January, Dorchester were indebted to some late heroics from Olaf Koszela to salvage a point at home to Sholing.

Michael Folivi had given the Boatmen the lead on the day late in the first half and, for much of the remainder of the match, the goal had looked enough to hand the visitors all three points.

But 1-0 can invariably be a dangerous scoreline in football and that ultimately proved the case as Koszela netted in the twelfth minute of second half added time to ensure the game finished one apiece.
