Match Preview - Tiverton (H)

August 12, 2025

By James Gray

Dorchester Town will welcome Tiverton Town on Tuesday (7:45pm KO) as the Magpies host Southern League Premier South football again for the first time this season. The two sides sides kicked off their respective 2025/26 campaigns last weekend, with mixed results for both as Tommy Killick's charges played out a goalless draw away to Uxbridge whilst Tiverton lost 2-0 at home to Chertsey Town.

With both teams in need of three points, returning players likely to feature in each starting eleven and a first match of the season under the lights this has all the makings of a competitive late summer clash. Here's everything you need to know ahead of the visit of Tiverton.

Tivvy In Brief

Founded: 1913
Nickname: Tivvy
Stadium: Slee Blackwell Solicitors Stadium
Capacity: 3,500 (520 seated)
Playing Surface: Grass

Ones To Watch

One name that jumps straight off the Tivvy squad list is former Exeter City and Crystal Palace defender Dean Moxey. Thirty-nine-year-old Moxey, who has Premier League experience with Palace, joined Tivvy from Devon neighbours Torquay United this summer.

Forward Daniel Koita finished last season strongly for Tivvy, with five goals in as many games during the end of season run-in. He will be hoping to get his tally up and going for this season, if he features against the Magpies.

The Gaffer

Player-manager Asa Hall was initially given interim control of first-team matters last March, before his appointment was made permanent shortly before the end of the 2024/25 season.

Hall helped steer Tivvy to safety on a dramatic final day of league action, with a 3-2 win over Marlow, combined with results elsewhere, securing their place in the Southern League Premier South for another season.

Last Time We Met

Last December the Magpies duly dispatched Tivvy 5-0 at the Avenue Stadium - our second biggest home win of the season - courtesy of goals from Shaquille Gwengwe, Olaf Koszela, Will Spetch, Matt Buse and Luke Roberts.

Magpies Mind Boggler

1.) There have been many memorable clashes between the Magpies and Tivvy down the years, none more so than that famous play-off final win in May 2004. The result secured Dorchester's place as founding members of the newly formed Conference South, but what was the score that day?

2.) Joe Parker, of course, joined the Magpies from Tivvy this summer, but has the striker managed to score in this fixture previously?

Team News

Dorchester remain without a number of key players for Tuesday's game through injury, including Gerard Benfield, Jack Dickson and Marcus Daws, while Wes Fogden is a doubt.

Will Spetch is also set to miss out as he serves the last of his two-game ban against Tivvy. Killick, however, will be boosted by the return of experienced striker Brett Pitman, following the conclusion of his own suspension.
