Welcome Matty Burrows

Welcome Matty Burrows

July 2, 2026

Dorchester Town Football Club are delighted to announce the signing of Matty Burrows ahead of the 2026/27 season.

A former AFC Totton, Wimborne Town and Portland United winger, Matty arrives at The Avenue following a season at Weymouth to become boss Glenn Howes’ sixth new signing of the summer so far.

The forward, who off the pitch works as a academy coach at Champion Sports Group based at the stadium, has a history with winning the Southern League Division One South, having been a part of the AFC Totton squad that won the title in the 2022/23 season, as well as spending a spell on loan at Wimborne during their title-winning campaign the following year.

On signing for the club, Burrows said: “I’m buzzing to get my teeth into this project that Glenn and the team have set out to achieve.

“The biggest reason I’d say is just the attraction in terms of the people around the club.

“Initial talks with Glenn were really positive and then you have the likes of Tommy around, who I’ve admired and had a desire to play for, but it never really materialised.”

On playing for the home team at The Avenue, the winger said: “I’m really excited in all honesty, obviously working day to day out of the ground makes it a familiarity but the fans have always been really positive and made a good atmosphere.

“Fortunately for me I’ve played for teams local to Dorch where the occasion has been a good one, and I’ve seen what a good environment they create and hopefully long may that continue.”

Reflecting on previously winning the Division One South title at Totton and his aims for the season, Burrows added: “Again really fond memories of that season and the league we’re in - and on a personal level contributing significantly as well was really cool.

“I’d say my aims and targets are similar to that season where I picked up a few match balls and had good numbers in front of goal, but more importantly work hard to be given the platform to do that.”

Welcome to The Avenue, Matty!
