Message from the board of directors

April 22, 2026

Following a board meeting last night, the board of directors would like to share a message to all Magpies supporters:

Saturday was a very difficult and emotional day for everyone connected with the club as relegation from the Southern League Premier South was confirmed.

After an incredibly positive previous campaign where we finished in the play-off places, we share the frustration and unbelievable disappointment that you all feel with what was an incredibly tough and challenging season that ultimately ended in relegation.

A special thank you to each and every single supporter who has followed the team, both home and away, over the past season for your incredible support once again.

Full focus now switches to next season where our aim is clear: to bounce straight back with promotion.

We want to reassure all supporters that work is already well underway and we are committed to bouncing back stronger. We have already started to plan to give us every chance to secure promotion next season, and we believe we can recruit the best management team and squad determined to give us the best chance to return next season and go beyond.

On Saturday, we host Sholing in our final game of the season with nothing left to play for but pride.

We welcome any supporter who has any questions or comments to please take the opportunity to speak with any member from the board of directors who will - as always - be available and happy to speak with you at the game. We also plan to hold a fans forum - open to all Magpies supporters - at The Avenue later next week. Further details will be confirmed soon.

Everyone at the club feels it is not appropriate to do the traditional end of season player awards after such a disappointing season. However, some of our annual awards are for supporters and volunteers, and we feel that it is important these fantastic people are recognised for the work they put in whatever the results on the pitch, so these awards will therefore be presented prior to kick off on Saturday.

To show our appreciation for your loyalty during these tough times, our club captain Will Spetch, along with the club, will place £1,000 behind the bar at our final game this Saturday so that you can have a drink on us. This gesture is a small token of our gratitude to our season ticket holders and regular supporters for your unwavering support throughout this difficult season. We invite you to join us on Saturday and look ahead to a brighter future together.

Let’s look forward to getting back to what we had not so long ago, which is what we all want for our club.

Thank you for standing by us.
