The Magpies recorded back-to-back league wins with a dominant 4-0 win over Frome Town at The Avenue this afternoon.
In front of a 700 plus crowd, goals from Olaf Koszela, Shaquille Gwengwe, Matt Buse and Wayne Robinson saw the Magpies claim a deserved three points, as well as a clean sheet, in an action packed 90 minutes.
Boss Tom Killick made three changes from last week's FA Cup exit as Will Spetch returned from suspension, Kyran Samadi made his first league start while in goal Noah Crisp came in with Gerard Benfield having been recalled from his loan spell late last week. Wes Fogden also missed out through injury.
In an dream start, it took just five minutes to open the scoring as a fantastic trademark run down the right wing from Jack Dickson set up Koszela inside the area to fire past the keeper into the roof of the net.
And it got even better just three minutes later, as Gwengwe opened his account for the season to double our lead - after Luke Pardoe was fouled just outside the area, a clever quick free-kick from Corby Moore caught the visiting defence sleeping to pick out last season's top scorer, who turned a defender before smashing the ball into the top corner.
Koszela then nearly doubled his tally for the afternoon, hitting a free-kick which was tipped on the crossbar by the Frome keeper.
On 41 minutes, both sides were reduced to 10 men as Magpies captain Jordan Ngalo and visitors Alex Monks were shown red cards. Following a late challenge on the lively Dickson, Monks volleyed the ball at the Magpies defender on the floor which caused a melee and saw both Ngalo and Monks dismissed after a coming together by referee Martin Bloor.
In first half stoppage time, the hosts did hit the woodwork themselves as a corner was headed onto the top of the crossbar.
Matt Buse was introduced at the interval in the centre of midfield, and as the visitors look to get back into the game amongst a flurry of corners, it was the sub who added our third just after the hour mark with his first goal for the club, as his powerful strike from distance was spilled by the keeper between his legs and over the line.
Frome had so far been denied by Crisp, although they did have their best chance of the game which was cleared by Will Spetch heading the ball off the line.
With 10 minutes remaining the visitors were then reduced to 9 men, as the ball was launched forward Koszela was hauled back on the halfway line by the last man Sam Heal to see a straight red card.
Robinson then struck to put the icing on the cake with the summer signing scoring his first Magpies goal at the Bypass End - after Luke Roberts battled through the Frome defence, Robinson took possession on the edge of the area and fired the ball low and hard into the bottom corner to seal all three points.
Next up on Saturday The Magpies host AFC Totton at The Avenue.
