Dorchester Town Football Club was saddened to hear the news that former player-manager David Best passed away last Wednesday.
Best - a former AFC Bournemouth, Ipswich and Portsmouth goalkeeper - made 121 appearances for the Magpies between 1975 to 1979, and was player-manager between 1976 to 1980. The club won promotion in the 77/78 season with Best in charge, playing 34 times that campaign. He was also manager for the first part of the title winning season in 79/80.
During his time with the club, Best gave debuts to some notable Magpies players, including Graham Roberts, Hedley Steele, Trevor Senior and Paul Thorne to name a few.
David's family have asked that for anyone wishing to pay their respects, the funeral will be held on Tuesday 23 December at 6.30pm at Harbour View, Poole.
