Tribute: Eileen Aplin

Tribute: Eileen Aplin

February 27, 2021

The club were saddened to hear of the passing of loyal supporter Eileen Aplin last Tuesday (23 February 2021), aged 90 years.

Eileen and her late husband Ted were life-long Magpies fans - Eileen was for many years Vice Chairman of the Dorchester Town Supporters Club having first joined in the 1970's, and was latterly a life Vice President at the club, while Ted was on the football club management committee and a founder director.

Back in 2017 Eileen was honoured with a special presentation to mark an incredible 70 years following The Magpies, and rarely missed a match at The Avenue.

Eileen and Ted were also both stalwarts of the old Magpies Social Club.

Vice Chairman David Martin commented: “I recall one summer when I was 16/17 a group of us decided to re-paint the old ground. Eileen was limited by mobility issues, but was always at the ground with loads of Mars bars and bottles of coke to keep us refreshed.”

Everyone connected with the club would like to pass on our thoughts and condolences to Eileen's family.
