Dorchester Town Football Club was saddened to hear of the passing of former player-manager Martin Chivers earlier this week.
The Tottenham and England legend, who was a two-time League Cup winner and UEFA Cup winner with Spurs, arrived at The Avenue in 1980, making his first appearance in black and white in a special centenary game celebrating 100 years of the club, before taking over as Magpies player-manager in the 1980/81 season and going on to score 7 goals in 19 appearances.
A prolific striker, who also featured for his hometown club Southampton, Brighton and Norwich City as well as spells in Switzerland and Norway, Chivers was also a regular in Sir Alf Ramsey's England side in the early 1970s, scoring 13 goals in 24 appearances for the national team.
From everyone at the club we send our thoughts and sincere condolences to Martin's family and friends.
